A cDNA clone isolated from a lectin-stimulated T cell hybridoma cDNA library was reported to encode a protein with macrophage migration inhibitory activity. This protein was subsequently referred to as human migration inhibitory factor （MIF）. MIF is expressed in many tissues and in all cell lines examined to date. Following incubation unbound Biotinylated anti-h MIF antibody is removed during a wash step. A Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to Biotinylated anti-h MIF antibody. Following incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is removed during a wash step. A colored product is formed in proportion to the amount of MIF present in the sample. The reaction is terminated by addition of acid and absorbance is measured at 450nm.
