TGFbeta RI is a protein encoded by the TGFBR1 gene. TGFbeta RI is localised to the cell membrane. It is involved in apoptotic pathways and the PAK pathway. It is a heteromeric complex that transduces the TGFB1, TGFB2 and TGFB3 signal from the cell surface to the cytoplasm and is thus regulating a plethora of physiological and pathological processes including cell cycle arrest in epithelial and hematopoietic cells, control of mesenchymal cell proliferation, differentiation and extracellular matrix production. TGFbeta RI is expressed in all human tissues and is most abundant in the placenta. Mutations in the TGFBR1 gene may result in Loeys-Dietz syndrome. STJ91351 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This primary antibody specifically binds to endogenous TGFbeta R protein which only binds about S165 when S165 is phosphorylated.
