- This gene belongs to the Ras oncogene family, whosenmembers are related to the transforming genes of mammalian sarcomanretroviruses. The products encoded by these genes function innsignal transduction pathways. These proteins can bind GTP and GDP,nand they have intrinsic GTPase activity. This protein undergoes ancontinuous cycle of de- and re-palmitoylation, which regulates itsnrapid exchange between the plasma membrane and the Golgi apparatus.nMutations in this gene cause Costello syndrome, a diseasencharacterized by increased growth at the prenatal stage, growthndeficiency at the postnatal stage, predisposition to tumornformation, mental retardation, skin and musculoskeletalnabnormalities, distinctive facial appearance and cardiovascularnabnormalities. Defects in this gene are implicated in a variety ofncancers, including bladder cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, andnoral squamous cell carcinoma. Multiple transcript variants, whichnencode different isoforms, have been identified for this gene.

- Store at 4˚C for three months and -20˚C, stable for up to one year. As with all antibodies care should be taken to avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Antibodies should not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures.
