- This gene encodes a member of the neuropilin family ofnreceptor proteins. The encoded transmembrane protein binds tonSEMA3C protein {sema domain, immunoglobulin domain (Ig), shortnbasic domain, secreted, (semaphorin) 3C} and SEMA3F protein {semandomain, immunoglobulin domain (Ig), short basic domain, secreted,n(semaphorin) 3F}, and interacts with vascular endothelial growthnfactor (VEGF). This protein may play a role in cardiovascularndevelopment, axon guidance, and tumorigenesis. Multiple transcriptnvariants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for thisngene.
