Retinoic Acid Receptor Responder 1 (RARRES1) is a part of the TIGs (Tazarotene-induced gene) family. TIGs operate like tumor suppressor genes in human cancers and are greatly expressed in skin, hair follicles and endothelial cells plus in pancreas, spleen and intestine. TIGs are growth regulators which mediate the growth suppressive effects of retinoids and are triggered by tazarotene.
