This gene encodes a member of the scavenger receptorncysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily. Members of this family arensecreted or membrane-anchored proteins mainly found in cellsnassociated with the immune system. The SRCR family is defined by an100-110 amino acid SRCR domain, which may mediate protein-proteinninteraction and ligand binding. The encoded protein contains twelvenSRCR domains, a transmembrane region and a cytoplasmic domain.nAlternatively spliced transcript variants encoding differentnisoforms have been described but their full-length nature has notnbeen determined.
