This gene belongs to the protocadherin gene family, ansubfamily of the cadherin superfamily. This gene encodes a proteinnwhich contains 6 extracellular cadherin domains, a transmembranendomain and a cytoplasmic tail differing from those of the classicalncadherins. Although its specific function is undetermined, thencadherin-related neuronal receptor is thought to play a role in thenestablishment and function of specific cell-cell connections in thenbrain.
