The protein encoded by this gene shares significantnsequence identity with the murine TSC-22 and Drosophila shs, bothnof which are leucine zipper proteins, that function asntranscriptional regulators. The expression of this gene isnstimulated by glucocorticoids and interleukin 10, and it appears tonplay a key role in the anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressiveneffects of this steroid and chemokine.
