Phosphatidylcholine (PC)-specific phospholipases D (PLDs;nEC 3.1.4.4) catalyze the hydrolysis of PC to produce phosphatidicnacid and choline. Activation of PC-specific PLDs occurs as anconsequence of agonist stimulation of both tyrosine kinase and Gnprotein-coupled receptors. PC-specific PLDs have been proposed tonfunction in regulated secretion, cytoskeletal reorganization, ntranscriptional regulation, and cell cycle control.[supplied bynOMIM].
