This gene functions in the protection of cells from Fas-nor tumor necrosis factor type alpha-induced apoptosis. Partiallyndegraded and unspliced transcripts are found after virus infectionnin vitro, but these transcripts are not found in vivo and do notngenerate a valid protein.
