The protein encoded by this gene is a precursor to thencornified envelope of terminally differentiated keratinocytes. Thisnprotein localizes to the periphery of cells and may function in thenassembly or regulation of proteins in the cornified envelope.nTranscript variants encoding different isoforms exist. A transcriptnvariant utilizing an alternative polyA signal has been described innthe literature, but its full-length nature has not been determined.
