Transducin is a 3-subunit guanine nucleotide-bindingnprotein (G protein) which stimulates the coupling of rhodopsin andncGMP-phoshodiesterase during visual impulses. The transducin alphansubunits in rods and cones are encoded by separate genes. This genenencodes the alpha subunit in cones.
