This gene encodes the seventh largest subunit of RNAnpolymerase II, the polymerase responsible for synthesizingnmessenger RNA in eukaryotes. The protein functions in transcriptionninitiation, and is also thought to help stabilize transcribingnpolyermase molecules during elongation.
