WD40 repeat proteins are key components of many essentialnbiologic functions. They regulate the assembly of multiproteinncomplexes by presenting a beta-propeller platform for simultaneousnand reversible protein-protein interactions. Members of the WIPInsubfamily of WD40 repeat proteins, such as WIPI1, have a 7-bladednpropeller structure and contain a conserved motif for interactionnwith phospholipids (Proikas-Cezanne et al., 2004 [PubMedn15602573]).
