The protein functions as a transcription co-activator,nenhancing the DNA-binding activity of serum response factor, anprotein required for the induction of genes by growth andndifferentiation factors. The protein regulates muscle creatinenkinase, indicating a role in the establishment of diversenmesodermal muscle types.
