This gene encodes a member of the tweety family ofnproteins. Members of this family function as chloride anionnchannels. The encoded protein functions as ancalcium(2+)-independent, volume-sensitive large conductancenchloride(-) channel. Two transcript variants encoding distinctnisoforms have been identified for this gene.
