This gene is a member of the cyclophilin family ofnpeptidylprolyl isomerases. The cyclophilins are a highly conservednubiquitous family, members of which play an important role innprotein folding, immunosuppression by cyclosporin A, and infectionnof HIV-1 virions. This protein interacts with the proteinaseninhibitor eglin c and is localized in the nucleus. Multiplentranscript variants encoding different isoforms have been found fornthis gene.
