Members of the 'frizzled' gene family encoden7-transmembrane domain proteins that are receptors for Wntnsignaling proteins. The FZD7 protein contains an N-terminal signalnsequence, 10 cysteine residues typical of the cysteine-richnextracellular domain of Fz family members, 7 putative transmembranendomains, and an intracellular C-terminal tail with a PDZndomain-binding motif. FZD7 gene expression may downregulate APCnfunction and enhance beta-catenin-mediated signals in poorlyndifferentiated human esophageal carcinomas.
