Dystrophin is missing innDuchenne Muscular Dystrophy patients and is present in reducednamounts in Becker Muscular Dystrophy patients. The protein encodednby this gene is a peripheral membrane protein found associated withndystrophin and dystrophin-related proteins. This gene is a membernof the syntrophin gene family, which contains at least two othernstructurally-related genes.
