The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the LARnprotein-tyrosine phosphatase-interacting protein (liprin) family.nLiprins interact with members of LAR family of transmembranenprotein tyrosine phosphatases, which are known to be important fornaxon guidance and mammary gland development. This protein binds tonthe intracellular membrane-distal phosphatase domain of tyrosinenphosphatase LAR, and appears to localize LAR to cell focalnadhesions. This interaction may regulate the disassembly of focalnadhesion and thus help orchestrate cell-matrix interactions.nAlternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinctnisoforms have been described.
