This gene encodes an androgen receptor coactivator. Thenencoded protein interacts with the androgen receptor in anligand-dependent manner to enhance its transcriptional activity.nChromosomal translocations between this gene and the ret tyrosinenkinase gene, also located on chromosome 10, have been associatednwith papillary thyroid carcinoma. Alternatively spliced transcriptnvariants have been described. Pseudogenes are present onnchromosomes 4, 5, 10, and 14.
