Members of this nascent protein family arencharacterized by common structural features and similar intron/exonnsplice boundaries and display unique expression patterns amongnhematopoietic cells and nonlymphoid tissues. This gene encodes anB-lymphocyte surface molecule which plays a role in the developmentnand differentiation of B-cells into plasma cells. This familynmember is localized to 11q12, among a cluster of family members.nAlternative splicing of this gene results in two transcriptnvariants which encode the same protein.
