RBMS2 is a member of a smallnfamily of proteins which bind single stranded DNA/RNA. Thesenproteins are characterized by the presence of two sets ofnribonucleoprotein consensus sequence (RNP-CS) that containnconserved motifs, RNP1 and RNP2, originally described in RNAnbinding proteins, and required for DNA binding. The RBMS proteinsnhave been implicated in such diverse functions as DNA replication, ngene transcription, cell cycle progression and apoptosis. Thisnprotein was isolated by phenotypic complementation of cdc2 andncdc13 mutants of yeast and is thought to suppress cdc2 and cdc13nmutants through the induction of translation of cdc2.
