This gene encodes a protein that acts as a repressor ofnbeta-interferon gene expression. The protein binds specifically tonthe PRDI (positive regulatory domain I element) of the beta-IFNngene promoter. Transcription of this gene increases upon virusninduction. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants thatnencode different isoforms have been reported.
