This gene encodes the general transcription factor IIB,none of the ubiquitous factors required for transcription initiationnby RNA polymerase II. The protein localizes to the nucleus where itnforms a complex (the DAB complex) with transcription factors IIDnand IIA. Transcription factor IIB serves as a bridge between IID,nthe factor which initially recognizes the promoter sequence, andnRNA polymerase II.
