The product of this gene belongs to the phosphatase 2Anregulatory subunit B family. Protein phosphatase 2A is one of thenfour major Ser/Thr phosphatases, and it is implicated in thennegative control of cell growth and division. It consists of ancommon heteromeric core enzyme, which is composed of a catalyticnsubunit and a constant regulatory subunit, that associates with anvariety of regulatory subunits. The B regulatory subunit mightnmodulate substrate selectivity and catalytic activity. This genenencodes a gamma isoform of the regulatory subunit B56 subfamily.nAlternatively spliced transcript variants encoding differentnisoforms have been identified.
