The protein encoded by this gene is one of severalnproteins that interact with NEDD4, a member of a family ofnubiquitin-protein ligases. These proteins have PY motifs in commonnthat bind to the WW domains of NEDD4. NEDD4 is developmentallynregulated, and is highly expressed in embryonic tissues. Mutationsnin this gene (i.e., intronic insertions of >100 copies ofnpentanucleotide repeats including a (TGGAA)n sequence) arenassociated with spinocerebellar ataxia type 31. Alternativelynspliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have beennfound for this gene.
