This gene encodes a protein containing two conservedntandem RNA recognition motifs. Similar proteins in other speciesnfunction as RNA-binding proteins and play central roles innposttranscriptional gene regulation. Expression of this gene hasnbeen correlated with the grade of the malignancy and proliferativenactivity in gliomas and melanomas. A pseudogene for this gene isnlocated on chromosome 11q13.
