This gene represents a member of the 'frizzled' genenfamily, which encode 7-transmembrane domain proteins that arenreceptors for Wnt signaling proteins. The protein encoded by thisnfamily member contains a signal peptide, a cysteine-rich domain innthe N-terminal extracellular region, and seven transmembranendomains, but unlike other family members, this protein does notncontain a C-terminal PDZ domain-binding motif. This proteinnfunctions as a negative regulator of the canonical Wnt/beta-cateninnsignaling cascade, thereby inhibiting the processes that triggernoncogenic transformation, cell proliferation, and inhibition ofnapoptosis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcriptnvariants.
