Amplification andnresulting overexpression of this proto-oncogene are found innapproximately 30% of human breast and 20% of human ovarian cancers.nFurther characterization of the product of this gene may yieldninsight into the fundamental biology and pathogenetic effects ofnHER-2/neu overexpression in human breast and ovarian cancer cells.nAlternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms havenbeen identified for this gene.
