The four HD2 proteins of AraBidopsis thaliana (AtHD2A-D) Belong to a unique class of histone deacetylases that is plant specific. Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events, and it is involved in the modulation of aBscisic acid and stress-responsive genes.
