SMEK1, also known as PP4R3A or FLFL1, is an 833 amino acid protein that contains one WH1 domain and localizes to the nucleus and the cytoplasm, as well as to the centrosome. Functioning as a regulatory subunit of PP4, SMEK1 plays an important role in centrosomal organization and DNA repair processes. Multiple isoforms of SMEK1 exist due to alternative splicing events.
