恩他卡朋产品是Entacapone is a potent catechol O-methyl transferase (COMT) inhibitor with IC₅₀ values of 14.3, 20.1 and 73.3 nM for rat liver soluble COMT, total COMT and membrane-bound COMT, respectively. Entacapone inhibits aggregation of α-synuclein in an in vitro assay and shown to block α-synuclein induced cell death in PC-12 cells. In vivo studies have shown that it increases the bioavailability of levodopa when given as an adjunct therapy for Parkinson’s disease.
