Phrixotoxin-3 is a peptidyl toxin originally isolated from the venom of Phrixotrichus auratus tarantula . This toxin is a highly specific and potent blocker of voltage-gated Na+ channels especially the neuronal channel NaV1.2 with properties similar to those of typical gating-modifier toxins. It causes a depolarizing shift in the gating kinetics by blocking the inward component of the sodium current.
