AV-Ceramide is a fluorescently-tagged probe consisting of C-10 ceramide with an anthrylvinyl （AV） group attached to the end of the acyl chain. The AV group， being relatively small and non-polar， readily orients within the central region of a lipid bilayer. The transfer or transport of lipids labeled with AV is commonly evaluated in real time using fluorescence resonance energy transfer， with a second fluorophore.
