- Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF or VEGFA), also known as vascular permeability factor (VPF), is a potent mediator of both angiogenesis and vasculogenesis in the fetus and adult. Rat VEGF164 shares 97% aa sequence identity with corresponding regions of mouse, 88% with human and bovine, 89% with porcine and canine, and 90% with feline and equine VEGF, respectively. VEGF binds the type I transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinases VEGF R1 (also called Flt1) and VEGF R2 (Flk1/KDR) on endothelial cells.Sample Type:Serum and plasmaIntended Use:The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of VEGF in rat serum, plasma; and other biological fluids not being tested.Sensitivity:27pg/mlRange:125-8000pg/mlSpecificity:This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of rat VEGF.Precision:Intra CV<10%; Inter CV <15%Test Principle:This assay employs the fast quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for Rat VEGF has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards, samples and rat VEGF mix are pipetted into the wells and any VEGF present is bound by the immobilized antibody. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of VEGF bound in the initial step.
