- Leptin is an identified protein product of the mouse obese gene. cDNA clones encoding Leptin have been isolated from human, simian, mouse, and rat cells. Rat Leptin shares approximately 96% and 82% sequence identity with the mouse and human protein, respectively. Rat Leptin cDNA encodes a 167 amino acid residue protein with a 21 amino acid residue signal sequence that is cleaved to yield the 146 amino acid residue mature proteinSample Type:Serum and plasmaIntended Use:The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of leptin in rat serum, plasma; and other biological fluids not being tested.Sensitivity:69pg/mlRange:163.8-40,000pg/mlSpecificity:This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of rat leptin.Precision:Intra CV<10%; Inter CV <15%Test Principle:This assay employs the fast quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for rat leptin has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards, samples and rat leptin mix are pipetted into the wells and any Leptin present is bound by the immobilized antibody. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of leptin bound in the initial step.
