A bile salt formed in the liver from chenodeoxycholate and glycine, usually as the sodium salt. It acts as a detergent to solubilize fats for absorption and is itself absorbed. Stable for 6 months after receipt at 4°C. Store at 4°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
