Antibiotic. Potent, selective and competitive cell permeable rasfarnesyltransferase inhibitor (IC50= 30nM). Does not affect geranylgeranyltransferase (IC50=180uM). Inhibition is competitive with respect to farnesyl pyrophosphate and non-competitive with respect to Ras. Neutral sphingomyelinase inhibitor.
