Anti-Penicillinase antibody recognizes the protein penicillinase, a beta lactamase specific to penicillins. Penicillinase hydrolyzes the beta-lactam ring of penicillins destroying their antibacterial potency. Thus, penicillinase is often found in antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
