RNase是生物体的“保护伞”,可防止外源RNA入侵。几乎任何一种原核生物与真核生物细胞类型中均可找到RNase。眼泪、唾液、粘液和汗液等体液中分泌这些RNase,通过它们来防御微生物的入侵。RNase也存在于皮肤碎屑中,掉落于实验台的毛发上,或粘附于衣物的宠物毛发内。不过,大多数环境中RNase的首要来源是微生物——即细菌和真菌。在操作过程中,必须消除、检测和抑制RNase。
